Question: Transmission/speedometer
I'm a delivery driver. I have an automatic transmission, my car has 88,000 miles on it. Today while driving my Pontiac, I heard some strange clanking while slowing down to stop. When I went to accelerate, my car did not want to shift up to the next gear. When I press the gas pedal, it sounds like I'm pressing it in neutral but it still drove. Also, the speedometer went out at the same time- it is stuck at zero. When I could finally pull over, I discovered the transmission was out of fluid and and thin blue smoke came out of the hole the dipstick goes in. Should I rebuild, or replace my tranny? Or just fill it up with fluid and see if she goes? Trade her in and get a new car?
