Question: Brake light in dash stays on

About a year ago, the master cylinder top came partially off. When I went to put it back on, I noticed that the reservoir was low. I filled it up and now the brake light in dash will not go out. The brakes feel fine and the car stops okay. Checked the emergency brake switch, okay. Any ideas?
